Assistant Librarian/Cataloguer wanted
August 2007 – January 2009, 18 month contract
RDS Library, Merrion Road, Ballsbridge, Dublin 4.
Set up in 1731, the RDS Library is one of the largest private libraries in Ireland serving the Members of the Society and researchers studying the cultural and social history of Ireland in the 18th – 20th centuries.
We are starting a large scale re-cataloguing project and are looking for a qualified librarian to undertake both original cataloguing of new and older material and checking of items which have previously been catalogued. We have recently migrated to the Horizon Windows-based library system. Experience of cataloguing using Marc 21, AACR2 and Library of Congress Subject Headings would be advantageous. The RDS Library uses the Dewey Decimal Classification scheme.
Monday – Friday 9 am – 5 pm (The RDS Library operates a flexitime system). Salary negotiable.
