Lex Consultancy is recruiting on behalf of a Top 10 Law firm in Dublin who is looking to recruit a Librarian / Information Centre Manager.
The Legal Information Centre manager will be responsible for the provision of information, training and research services to the legal staff. This will be a managerial and a developmental role, and candidates should have the ambition and drive to bring the LIC forward as a key contributor in the research environment.
A qualification in law is not a requisite, but would an advantage.
Candidates for the post of Legal Information Centre Manager must have the following:
• Diploma in Library and Information Studies
• 2 – 3 years experience, preferably but not essentially in a legal environment
• The ability to self-direct.
• The ambition and drive to bring the LIC forward as a key contributor to the research environment of the firm.
• The ability to manage and maintain the resources and systems of the LIC.
• Good interpersonal/communication skills.
The role of manager of the Legal Information Centre, is both managerial and developmental. The key elements of the role will be:
• Creation and delivery of training modules on the library system and the online resources, within a flexible schedule.
• Providing research support to the legal professionals, and actively promoting this service throughout the firm.
• Daily management of library functions.
• Orders and acquisitions
• Cataloguing and Classifications
• Current Awareness
• Management of library budget, financial records, and relationships with suppliers.
A project in the early stages of discussion is the establishment of a Knowledge Management
model. The opportunity exists for the LIC manager to research and promote this project, in liaison with the Managing Partner.
