
Garristown Library was opened by the Mayor of Fingal, Councillor Alan Farrell, on Wednesday 11th June 2008. The existing Carnegie Library Building was designed by the architect, Anthony Scott and was opened in 1912. The library has been renovated and extended whilst retaining the original roof, panelling and windows.

The restoration and extension of Garristown Library was designed by Fingal County Council Architects Department and has been nominated for the “Public Choice Award” for the RIAI Irish Architecture Awards 2008 -see
The awards will be presented at CHQ in Dublin’s Docklands, on June 23rd, hosted by Ryan Tubridy.
From June 4 onwards the public will be able to vote for their favourite building on the shortlist by going to http://www.riai.ie/iaa2008/
