Following the Budget 2009, Martin Cullen TD, Minister for Arts, Sport and Tourism said that it was intended that the National Library of Ireland, the National Archives and the Irish Manuscripts Commission would be amalgamated. The Minister said he is confident that the fusion of these organisations will lead to “economies of scale and costs and an enhancement of what they have on offer for the tourist, user and student.” For more information click here.
