Four local authority public library services are included in the shortlist for the 2010 Excellence in Local Government Awards:
Best Library Service
· Dublin City Council – Open Learning Centre, Online Language Service
· Galway County Council – Public Library Provision through Public Community Partnerships
· Leitrim County Council – Leitrim Library Service – Social and Cultural Inclusion
Sustaining the Arts
· Leixlip Town Council – Platform4 Recording Project @ Leixlip Library
Congratulating those who had made shortlist, Minister for Environment John Gormley, T.D. said quality customer service is a central component of the successful operation and management of local authority business. “It’s important to continue to maintain and indeed raise those standards of performance and it’s equally important to acknowledge and highlight them when we can.”
The awards ceremony takes place on Thursday 28 October in the Burlington Hotel Dublin.
