Tuesday 7th February 2012 is Safer Internet Day and this year it will be celebrated in more than 70 countries across the world.
Safer Internet Day (SID) is organised by the Insafe network each February to promote safe and more responsible use of internet and mobile phone technologies, especially amongst children and young people.
The theme for 2012 is connecting generations and the slogan is Discover the Internet together…safely! Around the date of the event a wide array of activities will take place across Europe and the world. The National Parents Council Primary will deliver internet safety workshops in various locations nationwide. Information on the workshops can be found here.
The Office for Internet Safety has produced an information leaflet on Internet safety, an Internet Safety bookmark as well as an awareness poster highlighting the top tips for keeping safer on the Internet. These have been distributed to each Library Authority and will be available in public libraries on Safer Internet Day.
