As part of  The Contemporary Music Centre’s contribution to Culture Night, Enda Bates will be creating an interactive spatial music installation Sound Swarm in the Centre’s library. Sound Swarm consists of a quadraphonic loudspeaker array controlled by a remote wireless controller from the Nintendo Wii games platform. Bates is a founder member of the Spatial Music Collective and specialises in spatial music. He will also be present on the night to talk about his work.

The Irish Traditional Music Archive has just republished the historic first collection of Irish music: A Collection of the Most Celebrated Irish Tunes Proper for the Violin, German Flute or Hautboy, Dublin, 1724. Leixlip Town Council’s – Platform4 Recording Project @ Leixlip Library has been shortlisted for the 2010 Excellence in Local Government Award. The project was shortlisted in the Sustaining the Arts Section.

Platform4 Recording Project @ Leixlip Library is a very popular initiative of Kildare Libraries and Arts Services who are also members of Music PAL .
