RTÉ’s Lyric FM recently presented a two part series on little known music treasures from the library of Trinity College Dublin. The series focussed on significant items from the library’s collections, including medieval chant, Elizabethan lute melodies and traditional Irish jigs in the years following the famine.  Harpist Siobhan Armstrong played a replica of the so-called Brian Boru harp which gives us our national emblem.

Staff at the library described the contributions of two former professors of Music at Trinity College, Ebenezer Prout and, more recently, Brian Boydell, and the extent to which the music collections continue to grow.

The series, a Broadcasting Commission of Ireland initiative, was produced by Claire Cunningham, with Adrian Cunningham as sound supervisor.
