Music PAL libraries and archives throughout the country are taking part in Culture Night 2011, Friday 23 September. We are bringing concerts, sessions, workshops, drums & songs to make this a truly wonderful cultural experience. Some of the many musical events on offer are listed below. Enjoy!
Royal Irish Academy of Music
Performances from tiny tots to grown ups, with open rehearsals and classes with some of Ireland’s finest musical talents
Belfast Central Library
The Broken String Band plays traditional, raw acoustic Appalachian mountain music at its foot tappin’ best
Jeremy Mearns-Doherty – local pianist and composer
Rhythm & Rhyme – Parents and carers are invited to bring their babies and toddlers along for songs and rhymes
The Contemporary Music Centre
The Spacial Music Collective create a sonic experience of live and electronic music inspired by the past, shaped by the future, in the shadow of Handel and tailored to CMC’s historic home. Installations and live performances across the evening
Cork City Library
A showcase of library facilities and services, a mixed programme of readings, drama and music
Cork County Libraries
The Pyke Theatre Group from Ballincogg will present a short programme of storytelling, song, music and monologues
UCC
Masters Degree Graduation Recital of Irish Traditional Music. Currently at UCC studying for a Masters in Ethnomusicology, Lisa Canny will perform her own tunes and songs in the traditional style, alongside some of the best musicians in the country
