IFLA’s Treaty Proposal on Copyright Limitations and Exceptions for Libraries and Archives was discussed at the meeting of WIPO’s Standing Committee on Copyright and Related Rights which finished on 29th November.

The Chair of the Standing Committee has set a deadline of 29th February 2012 for receipt of written submissions on the Treaty Proposal.

If you are involved in infomation literacy, why not submit proposals for presenting at the “Road to Information Literacy: Librarians as Facilitators of Learning IFLA Satellite Conference” in Tampere, Finland  August 2012?. It is being sponsored by IFLA’s Continuing Professional Education and Workplace Learning and Information Literacy Sections.
The satellite conference will be held immediately prior to the World Library and Information Congress in Helsinki, Finland, August 2012. Proposals for presentations (including research reports, smaller scale interactive roundtable discussions, train-the-trainer sessions, workshops, and poster sessions) are invited. Some proposals will be considered for publication in the proceedings, which will be distributed at the Satellite Meeting.
General Themes include strategies for designing and implementing a professional development information literacy program for librarians. Proposals are also invited that detail success stories/ lessons learned and explore information literacy from outside the box.

IFLA celebrated its annual 2011 conference last August in San Juan, Puerto Rico. Librarians from all over the world gathered for a week for this unique oportunity to learn from other colleagues and know what the latest experiences are in other countries.

The IFLA Section on Management & Marketing in collaboration with Emerald has the pleasure to announce the IFLA International Marketing Award for 2011. The IFLA International Marketing Award will honor organizations that have implemented creative, results-oriented marketing projects or campaigns. Three finalists will be recognized for their outstanding achievements. A first place winner will be chosen and two distinctions will be awarded. From these three finalists, the winner will be chosen and receive airfare, lodging and registration for the World Library and Information Congress: 77th IFLA General Conference and Council in San Juan, Puerto Rico in August 2011, as well as a cash award of USD 1,000 which must be used to further the marketing efforts of the recognized organization. Three finalists will be announced in March 2011. A first place winner will be chosen and two distinctions will be awarded. The winner will be announced officially during the Press Conference of the Congress in San Juan, Puerto Rico.
