Vacancy – Library Assistant, The Law Society Library

The Law Society Library provides a lending, reference and information service to the solicitors’ profession and to the trainee solicitors and staff in the Society’s Law School. The library has a staff of five and currently has a vacancy for the position of Library Assistant.

The post will involve a variety of tasks, including issue desk, enquiry and information work, data entry, photocopying, looseleaf filing, shelving and any additional tasks as required.

Necessary qualities for the post include interest in library work, communication skills, a good manner with people and a strong customer service approach, good IT and organisational skills, flexibility, resourcefulness and a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail.

Applicants should have a good general education. Experience of working in a library or information service would be an advantage. The post might also suit a library trainee seeking work experience or a recent library graduate wishing to gain further experience. Familiarity with legal materials would also be an advantage.
