Vacancy – Information Officer, Arup Consulting Engineers, Dublin Office

Arup Consulting Engineers is a leading multi-disciplinary engineering consultancy company committed to developing the corporate information resources for its staff of over 500.
Reporting to the Senior Information Officer, the successful candidate will be based within Information Services in our Dublin office, and will be responsible for providing quality information and research services to staff in our offices in Cork, Dublin and Limerick.
The role involves the development and maintenance of the library collection, including acquisition and cataloguing responsibilities, working as part of a team to deliver an accurate and effective enquiry service, developing information skills training programmes for staff, and promoting electronic resources.
Arup uses the Heritage web-based library catalogue system, and the Information Officer will be required to continue to develop this service, provide training for staff, and manage the system in conjunction with Arup libraries in the UK.
While based in the Dublin office, the role will include responsibilities for delivering information services in our Cork and Limerick offices, and may offer the opportunity to work in these offices on occasion.
Qualifications / Requirements
Candidates must hold a primary degree, and a relevant, professional qualification in Library and/or Information Science, or equivalent
The role requires a high degree of self-motivation, flexibility and excellent communication and organisational skills. Arup is committed to providing continuous professional development for all our staff, and an enthusiasm for learning new skills is a key aspect of this role.
Experience of a busy library or information environment, and dealing with user queries would be an advantage.
Familiarity with the Heritage library catalogue system is useful, although not essential, as full training will be provided. Well-developed IT skills are important.
