Wanted – Fully or partially qualified archivist/librarian to organise an eclectic Irish country house library.
This library contains about 5,000 books, a 19th and 20th Century collection mostly dealing with Irish and British history, militaria, biography and some literature. The collection includes some rare books, a considerable number of pamphlets, newspaper cuttings and letters. The books are mostly shelved and need to be assessed and catalogued consistently.
The intention is to facilitate eventual disposal or interim lending to suitable institutions, at least the catalogue will be made available to scholars electronically.

Brightwater are looking to employ an Archivist/Librarian on a three month contract.
Closing date for applications: Friday March 5 2010
Responsibilities include:
• Maintain and manage the record retention and archiving program for company products and source code. This includes the acceptance of artefacts into the archive in a catalogued manner, retrieval or artefacts, burning or transferring onto alternate media (CD, DVD, FTP) and Mastering for distribution
• Maintaining project files and files on servers for workflow
• Work with supervisor and other departments to streamline processes, create efficiencies, and implement/complete special archiving projects
• Answer queries from personnel on indexing, procedures, and questions relating to record retention and retention database functionalities
• Train personnel on new and established filing, record retention and archiving requirements.

The post will involve working on the Royal College of Science for Ireland Library which was inherited by University College Dublin.
This project is funded by the Wellcome Trust.
