NALA is hosting a Family Literacy event on Wednesday 19 May in All Hallows College, Drumcondra, Dublin 9. The title of the event is ‘Listening to parents: building curriculum in family learning’. The event is aimed at family literacy coordinators, tutors, ALOs, literacy resource workers, home school liaison teachers/officers, family resource centre employees etc.
The cost of the event is €30 to NALA members, €60 to non-members.

To mark the holding of the LILAC conference in Limerick in 2010, the Library Association of Ireland (LAI) and the Consortium of National and University Libraries (CONUL) are jointly offering an award of €500 for achievement in the field of Information Literacy (IL) in the Republic of Ireland. This award is being made on a once-off basis. It is open to an individual or group working in the IL arena, and in any sector, in the Republic of Ireland.
Nominations for this award are now open. We welcome nominations from all sectors. Individuals or groups may self-nominate or colleagues may nominate individuals or groups whom they consider have demonstrated innovation in the field of Information Literacy.

The LNSS Information Literacy Implementation Seminar and Workshops (Incorp. Epigeum Ltd.) will be held on the 16th of July 2009 at Limerick Institute of Technology.
The event will feature speakers from the world of libraries and academia from institutions all over Ireland who play a major role in the implementation of information literacy initiatives in their own institutions and nationally.
The event will also focus on Epigeum Research Skills Online widely considered the leading resource for online research and information literacy skills aimed at postgraduates and researchers with cutting edge use of streaming media and online active learning assessment comprising of modules such as Getting published, Plagiarism, Intellectual property in the research context, career planning, Conferencing skills.
This event is run by the SIF Funded Library Network Support Services (LNSS) project which has responsibility for implementation of new information literacy as well as staff development initiatives across the Shannon Consortium group of Libraries (LIT, Mary Immaculate College, ITTralee, UL).

The annual CONUL Advisory Committee on Information Literacy (ACIL) seminar will be held in the School of Nursing and Midwifery, TCD, on Thursday May 28 2009.
This year’s programme includes presentations by:
* Peter Goodwin ( University of Bedfordshire ) on 21st century information literacy and how it fits into Web 2.0 and mobile devices;
* The inter-university SIF team on a new blended programme for graduate information skills;
* Kevin O’Rourke (Head of eLearning Support, DIT) on the future of VLEs;
The afternoon session is a debate entitled Is there a place for online social networking in teaching and learning?
The charge for the seminar is €40 for CONUL library members, or €60 for non-members.
