Opportunity for Library/Information Studies Graduate.
The Marine Institute is currently recruiting a Library and Information Stagiaire. This position provides an excellent training opportunity for a recent graduate (last 2 years) with a minimum of an Honours Degree, Masters or Graduate Diploma in Information/Library Studies, wishing to gain quality work experience in a library environment. Work experience is provided for a maximum period up to 50 weeks on a fixed term, fixed purpose Graduate Training contract with a stipend of €21,850 per annum pro rated with time worked.

Applications are invited from candidates who would like to undertake a three-year funded PhD studentship within the Institute for Informatics and Digital Innovation at Edinburgh Napier University in the UK. The Institute comprises five research centres, of which the Centre for Social Informatics is one.
The Centre for Social Informatics (and the International Teledemocracy Centre which is based within the Centre) undertakes research across a range of areas including the information society, knowledge management, library and information science, project management, social computing, e-government and e-democracy.
We are particularly interested in applicants who would like to pursue research that overlaps in interest with the work of one or more of the other four research centres within the Institute.

The University of Sheffield is recruiting PhD students to work on 2 fully-funded research projects in partnership with The British Library. Both projects have a collections focus and require experience of working in an academic or research library together with a Masters degree in librarianship or a related subject. Students expecting to obtain a Masters degree this summer may also apply. Only UK or EU residents are eligible. The positions are available from October 2010 and the awards cover tuition fees and maintenance grants of c£13.5K per annum for three years.
The DEADLINE for applications is midnight on Friday 16 July.
Interviews will be held in London on Thursday 23 July.

The Department of Information Science at Loughborough University and the Welsh Assembly Government are jointly offering a fully-funded PhD studentship to UK/EU applicants. The UK/EU university tuition fee will be paid and recipients will also receive a tax-free stipend at the EPSRC standard rate (£13,290 for 2009/10).
The PhD study will involved working closely with the Welsh Assembly Government to extend the Email Knowledge Extraction system, developed at Loughborough University, to incorporate the automated categorisation and classification of emails stored within email archives. The research will involve developing an effective way of determining the context and the nature of email before it can be categorised and classified. It will also involve developing and evaluating an employee profiling tool which uses the content of emails to determine the domain in which the employee works and the probability that the email will contain information that needs to be stored.

The Royal Irish Academy is an independent learned society dedicated to promoting excellence in research and scholarship across a broad range of disciplines in the Social Sciences, Humanities and Sciences.
The Academy library invites applications for a one-year Library Studentship, commencing 25 August 2010. The privately funded studentship will be awarded to a graduate who wishes to gain experience of working in a library prior to attending a post-graduate course in librarianship.
Candidates should have an honours degree or expect to attain an honours degree in their summer exams and be able to demonstrate good IT and communication skills.
